A Comparison

Post by mhlr » Sun Nov 02, 2008 12:38 am

Strange how things change over the years... I got sent a picture by Dan of the DLR tonight from the August 2006 SMT (which I didn't have), and look what it was:

It's Columba, my Bertie as running when in Micheal Thorpe's ownership when he lived somewhere upcountry, now he's downhere and the loco has ended up in my posession as below.

I got it with most of the stuff as in the picture before, but then it had yellow lining, so I assume it must be Trimline or maybe painted over if it was painted lining... Still has the yellow doors in this pic, but have been painted over and some bits added and removed as below:

Has anyone else got interesting stories to their locos? If so, lets hear...

My superior used to look like a germanic thing, then the owner stripped all the mods to sell it. Now it looks like a GWR inspired thing. Its hard to imagine locos any different from what they are now really.

That's interesting...

Out of interest, any pictures of the Superior in germanic mode? Or for that matter in GWR...

Must admit I recognised your Bertie as soon as you got it from that issue of SMT, it was the second issue I got from 16mm association membership, pitty the railway has gone though, that railway and article gave me lots of inspiration for my own line.
However, 4 of my 5 engines were bought new so no interesting stories there :(

Well funnily enough, I've now been sent all of that article that have been scanned in. I'll send it to you if you like.

No I have got that issue, the second issue that I got from membership, i joined in May 2006 and the issue was the August 2006. Still check it back though, as I said that railway was rather nice an inspirational for trying to recreate a welsh slate railway in the garden. But thanks for the offer :)
