Roundhouse Drive Wheels

I would appreciate advice from anyone who has repaired a Roundhouse drive wheel that is slipping around the grub screw boss. The boss appears to be a plastic material and the drive wheels are metal.

Arrh yes..If you overtighten the plastic makes the wheel wobble. So Locktight retainer. Take the screw out wet the shaft with retainer move the wheel in position and put the grub screw back as tight as you feel is acceptable. Leave overnight. Whilst it wont tolerate a bashing it can hold quite well. Lock tight retainer is for tapered shafts on lathes etc. it is not the normal stuff that helps hold a thread and is blue. It is red and when it goes off it sticks. Hope it helps..Failing that the dent in the shaft can be drilled deeper but try the locktight retainer first.

Thanks for your information however the problem is not with the grub screws slipping but with the plastic boss slipping inside the metal wheel. I assume the boss has been pressed into the metal wheels and would have to also be pressed out again but I hate to try that in case they are originally molded together as one unit and not pressed in place later.

The boss will have been pushed in as it is turned seperatly. If it is only rotating on the boss and not loose then normal superglue should stop it. If the boss is damaged then it would probably be best to buy a new wheel.
