Engine interfering with RC control

Post by benchmark » Thu Oct 04, 2012 9:54 am

Has anyone experienced this phenomenon before, i just noticed that one of my engines interferes with its RC control in the form of occasional flutters seen on the servos. It only happens if the engine is in motion on live steam. I have tried 2 different RC 2.4 Ghz brand radios systems with the same results. Any idea how to solve this problem?

Thanks.

Are you anywhere near a wireless broadband router? They work on 2.4 gig, too..........................

Nope, i am out in the middle of nowhere with no other electrical appliances nearby. I am sure its coming from the steam engine itself because i can sometimes see the Servos flicker in rhythm to the engine revolutions.

I often work on R/C models right next to my router - not a single blip of interferences. I think it is a myth that they interfere with 2.4GHz R/C systems.

Metal against metal is bound to create some "noise". Try moving the RX around a bit and check all connectors are good and clean.

I found the problem this evening, apparently it was low voltage from the receiver battery pack. The new batteries i had put in only lasted 1 hour  and the voltage had already dropped from 6v to 4.8 v causing the servos to flicker.
A new pack of Duracells solved the problem

it will be low voltage on your batary pack or a lose conection ,if your sevos and recever are powered by a little battary back that takes aa battays try buying really chap aa battays the ones you see in a back of 12 for like 2 or 3 pounds these last a lot longer for some reason i used to use them in my rc cars to power the handset and the sevos etc .
