The STT M.D. commisioned PHC Engineering to build a brand new loco for the STT. It is in the form of a Simplex Motor Rail 20hp. It took about 2 days to build, and is on a IP Budget chassis with 4 wheel drive. Made from plasikard, it has a lift off bonnet for access to the batteries, and switches are forward/reverse and on/off. Here are some photos of a test run to check all is in order before being shipped to the South Trethevy Tramway:
Front veiw.
Rear.
Engine compartment (batteries!).
Modified IP chassis underneath.

What trace off the Saltford ones I sent you

? Surely Will is able enough to adapt them to suit a budget chassis.

Well he asked for the dimensions, and I adapted the rest of the body to make it look in proportion to the length... I will make them a little clearer than the scan too...

I Have the Saltford Plans that pete sent me.
I think i will find it easier working from dimensions and pictures and a little bit of guessing using the plans to help when it all goes T!T$ up!

A couple of things, you should of 'steamed' the bonnet curve in, I used 'I' beams with a bit hacked off to make the engine/gearbox mount. What did you use for rivets?

1. CBA to have steamed it in, its a prototype

good point anyway.
2. I will be doing a load of improvements, ie I beams when I make another...
3. Cambrian rivet heads - recomended to all

(except steam engines around hot areas!)

Tomorrow I will make a new bonnet, a complete part so it lifts off as 1 (just the top of the bonnet), and also add a cut out for the radiator, and a 'ridge' on the top of the bonnet.
