If Roundhouse made an Edrig for £400 then I'd have it, but they don't, because it's not possible. Depends wether you want to shunt, ect.. Bertie won't do that easily becuase it's a slip-eccentric. The Edrig's cheaper, and you get more for your money. Depend what you want it for!

Bertie!

Roundhouse v Accucraft engineering? No contest!

Just ask yourself... When the Accucraft starts to wear, will you be able to get spare parts?

Roundhouse will send you virtually anything you want, the next day!

Yep, definatly go for the Bertie!!

Just ask yourself... When the Accucraft starts to wear, will you be able to get spare parts?

A friend of mine has needed spare parts for his Accucraft Superior on a couple of occasions, the first time was to replace worn connecting rods, coupling rods and crankpins. There was no problem and the spares arrived from Accucraft UK a few days later. This summer his loco developed a leak between the gas tank and burner which he was unable to fix. We contacted Ian Pearse at Accucraft UK, and a few days later all the replacement bits and 6 extra union cones which he had requested, arrived.... and surprisingly at no charge, not even for postage ! I reckon that is comparable to the excellent service from Roundhouse.

In answer to Andy's question, personally I would choose a loco WITHOUT slip eccentrics. Being totally unbiased, I will say that I know 6 people in the area where I live, that have had Accucraft loco's for the past 4-5 years and they are extremely happy with them, and I also know many people who own Roundhouse loco's, and they are equally happy.

It's not a question of quality, quality is equal, just a question of value for money, roundhouse have gone a awsome job of doing this, but because Accucraft is in China it's so much cheaper.

accually, i think i shall get an edrig, as the bertie is accually very expensive for what it is, even the parts are expensive, but at a show at kew bridge, a guy should have a bertie for 425 with a few add ons with it, so if i can get enough by next weekend then i might get that

I personally would get an edrig since its fantastic value for money. Owning 2 Accucraft engines myself I have never had a problem requiring new parts for it.
The choice is yours though berties are very nice engines and apparently not that common so youll have something different.
