The Afonglas and Nant Llywyd Railway sees in 2012

2011 finished in the same manner that it started for the North West Area group, with a steamup on the dual gauge Fairfield Railway, whilst today saw the traditional New Years day services on the Afonglas and Nant Llywyd Railway
The attendance at the New Years eve event wasn't great, however a few members brought locos whilst Matt borrowed the resident Millie for the day

At the steamup last January, I showed off my newly re-painted Superior in black. This steamup saw the Poolend Garden Railway showing off its newly repainted black Caradoc!

Train racing with Gwydion on the inside, a G scale loco from the Windy Ridge Railroad in the middle and a repared King Arthur on the outside

The manager on the Coniston Railway showed off his Christmas present, an Accucraft Climax that is also regaugeable, so I daresay we'll get the sight of it sitting at the head of a train of Ffestiniog carriages in 2012!

Meanwhile, PTLRsam made the garden smell nice with the Archangel Jack, although a problem with the hand pump meant the run terminated early

The NWAG also has started collecting material for the 10 anniversary video....

It was the wind again!!! Luckily it only had 4 inches to fall this time, not 4 feet and Gwydion stayed on the formation, if not the rails

Todays New Year train on the ANLR looked for most of the morning as if it would end up being a battery loco doing one circuit with a gaurds van, but fortunatly the rain stopped and Urien and 5 carriages took to the rails

Climbing off Glanyrafon where the moss is starting to go rampant

A slightly different view of Urien pulling into Afallen

Heading towards Nant Llywyd on the upper loop

Rolling back towards Glanyrafon, really need to sort out that moss...

Last down train runs into Afallen
