As the Jessie has been in hard action for the last month it was bound to end in tears. Stripped a worm gear somehow, just mileage I think & a few offs after hitting cat poo debris probably not helped. Also my Jessie has ended up with elongated holes on the coupling rods leading to a bit sloppy play going on.
But anyway I had a chat with Ivan at IP this morning sorting out replacement gears for the IP Jessie, Jack & Rapier.... I mentioned my coupling rod issue & he was saying how they used to do brass bushes for them for loco's that would be used in "commercial" aplications... (one presumes that means model villages etc). I had been meaning to try something out for a few days & not got around to it so I just asked him instead. "Will mamod coupling rods fit?" ....He had to think about it but said they actually should as early Jessie type chassis used parts from the IP Jane (i.e. super mamod). Just tried with a set of of blinged up Alan Briggs laser cut ones I had to go on my mamod & yes they fit good. Maybe if the IP deluxe chassis is the same as the Jessie you could use the same to replace the supplied plastic ones....
Anyway just sharing some findings, maybe already known.
Jessie bits, something I didn't know.
