snow polugh

i have had a go at makeing a polugh (failed epicly) can any give so ideas or plans cheers

get some small plastic tube (around 1.5 inch diameter) and cut into quarters length ways.
Cut a 45 degree angle into two pieces and stick them together and onto a triangle of ply to hold the tops together. Sharpen the leading edge and paint and fix onto the buffer beam of a wagon.
Done!

i made one last week and all it's made from is a short rectangel pice of mettle ben at the two cornars near the track if you get a phot of a snow plow try to follow along those lines
1 bend the mettle to form a rectangle
2 bend the two cornars inwards near the track
3 fit it to a tender or loco
4 paint it
5 let it snow ( tested in real snow)

make sure its about
8cm hight
15cm long

I see you fitted it to the tender so do you push it round in front of the engine or go round in reverse?

it gets pushed in the snow and because the loco goes faster in forward there will be more power to shove the snow out the way

Hmmmm thats interesting as both of my mamods are more powerful when in reverse! and i've heard that this is because of the way that the reverser is made, forgotten the exact details now!

Most mamods seem faster in reverse but Tom must know his better than we do.

A mamod shouldnt be stronger in either direction as the rotary valve just reverses the steam to the cylinders. Its the same action happening in both directions. Saying this some locos run better in a certain direction due to the rotary valve alignment.

I can tell you from experience, that both of my operational mamods (well, when i had 2 operational mamods that it ) were noticeably more powerful in reverse, and Britomart had a significant different, once she managed to pull 3 mamod waggons (covered) and 2 waggons full of ballast which weighted as much as 1 1/2 mamod waggons and also another dead mamod on the end with ease! She couldn't do it in forward
