At stonleigh this year I picked myself a bargain at the IP stand. Their B and W carriages were going for 20 pounds each so I picked up a brake and a balcony end carriage.
In order to stop my brain from committing suicide and dribbling out of my nose due to revision and exams I started building the brake carriage over the weekend and am now waiting on the olive spray paint to arrive before I can go any further. These carriages are HUGE and far to big for my railway so by cutting the height down by 1cm and the width down by 1cm and the length down by a whole window I have brought it to within loading gauge and have tried not to distort the proportions of these beautiful carriages. This has meant an awful lot of sanding and sawing and planing but I think it looks ok.

And yes my desk is that messy...

I see what you mean - that's been one HELL of a chop!
Nothing like a bit of model building to help you relax.............

Everything had to be changed in several dimensions.
I will also be fitting one of my silly removable strip wood rooves and a Bond Brakes (c) air pump...

Mr Bonds chopshop then. It looks good, can't tell it's been chopped just looking at it. I don't know what they look like normally but it all seems to fit in well.

The Olive paint arrived today 30 hours after ordering.
Instead of Green and cream they sound very up market in the actual paint colours: Olive and Elm!
There is no holding me back. Of course I could not leave this carriage without any LASER cut components to the roof braces, buffer beams (Nice thick ones instead of the feeble ones in the kit) and the doorway gates will all be LASER cut!

Got back from exam torture today at lunch so decided to do a little more work on the carriage having done some LASER cutting at school as well.

The step and LASER cut buffer beams...

The removable roof at the start of construction.
The cream stripe along the side was a last minuet "I wonder what it would look like if I..."
So I painted it. I think it looks rather smart...

Looking very smart, why don't you have a go at lining out the panels? The laser cut bits look stunning as usual, good job!
As for exams, I finish tomorrow (except for an annoying german one on wednesday

) so over the weekend I hope to get something done, restarting the third bug box project and drawing out the MOTY entry. Oh, and the small matter of a bike ride from London to Brighton

Very nice Zach, Dad likes the furry roof. Little tip for next time, if you sand the wood beteween coats the grain doesn't swell.
