L&B bogie wagon

Post by MTA » Sat Oct 03, 2009 8:24 pm

Alas, Accucraft is cutting yet another model from its range.

This time, it is the L&B bogie wagon in both of the liveries.

So if you have been thinking about buying one or two, do so now!

I'm not sure when the last batch is to be made.

Open bogie wagon or bogie Van?

The bogie brake van has already gone, so this will be the open wagon. A great pitty as it was an good wagon, and looks nice both in goods and mixed trains, with the obviously compartively low price tag. But it again goes along with what I've suggested before, that Accucraft have to remove stuff from their lineup before they can bring in something new.

Not really. Doesn't make sense to keep producing the same things once sales start to drop. Anyone who actually wanted one specifically as a L&B wagon will have already bought one. Anyone who just wants a generic wagon will be happy to buy whatever they replace it with... But if they replace it with something else, then the folks who want that particular wagon will buy it, as will anyone who wants a generic wagon... and some of the folks who bought the L&B wagon will think "oooh, I'll have one of them too". Having two broadly similar items in the range is a bit silly as they'll end up competing with themselves, and using up production line space (and shelf space at dealers too). Don't forget these aren't fast moving products, they tend to sit on shelves...

It must be said Accucraft have been making some strange decisions recently, and I've always thought that they should never have discontinued the Baguley. Having said that the news that Excelsior (or similar) is returning went down well today at the PTLR (pics to come of another new loco for an NWAG member :D )

No, you were never confused But I agree with you. When were the first bogie wagons released? Well, I've just been on trackshack & I found out that Accucraft are going to discontinue them

and I've just had a slight heart attack as I have just looked up how expensive these are, mainly because I though of getting one or two, then I found the price, maybe it might be part of my late GCSE results present, (which an Edrig might be)

Blimey, I got £20!

They aren't that expensive if you consider how good the quality is, especially if you compare them to LGB stock and prices, not forgetting they come with fairly nice metal wheels, chopper couplers etc- and of course that they are ready- to- run.

I was thinking that, but still, why does everything have to become soooooo expensive, because I have a choice of either getting an edrig, and possibly some rolling stock or more track with it, or a new amplifier for my guitar, which would cost between £500-750

THIRDED lol! One way to look at it is that trains (mainly locos) hold their value pretty well. Some can also gain value over years... better than going in the bank

Yes driving is essential, and so is drinking, although preferably not at the same time as the state police force will come and make you dissappear for having half a shandy, or for being found paralytic in your crashed car the next morning.
Back on topic its sad to hear that accucraft are discontinuing them after only being out what a year?

Driving/ riding/ being a student with a vague social life all plays havoc with the railway fund. I'm a bit of a petrolhead, with 2 classic bikes at the moment (down from 4 over the summer), it gets expensive...
