DJB Designs

Post by MTA » Sat Jan 05, 2008 9:19 pm

A while ago I stumbled upon the DJB Engineering website and noticed that they do castings, drawings etc. for NG engines in O gauge. This intrigued me as I much prefer to build an engine than buy one (mainly because it is far much cheaper!). Anyway, I wondered if any of you have had experience with the designs and which would be the simplest to build. Palmerston seems to be the easiest, although looks can be deceiving....

It sounds like a lot of hard, fiddly work to me, ok for highly skilled, time rich people!

I'm only reviewing my options at the moment, the lack of prices on the website though is putting me off a wee bit :?

Yes, I like prices, it tells me wether I can afford it or not!

Give DJB a call or send an email and ask, is my advice. I have found David Bailey to be very helpful. The only dealings I have had with DJB is when I ordered the DJB "Cedrig" coal fired boiler, I am very pleased with the service, and the workmanship was really top class.

I would not think this will be a cheap option.

Market for castings will be very small so no profit to be made and thus prices adjusted accordingly.

Looking at the other items on their website, these are well engineered and priced high accordingly.

If yo want a relativly cheap and easy to build kit i would have to recomend roundhouse. I hear there kits are very easy to build.
