Identifying source of loco
I think I may have more luck here, than on the other Forum I have posted?
I recently bought this: Does anyone recognise the body / have an idea of where it came from / who makes them?
Many thanks,
Phil.P

Re: Identifying source of loco
I've never seen anything like it. The build quality approaches something commercially-available, but the differing screws between bonnet and roof, and what I can make of the chassis, screams "home-built".

I was thinking it looked a bit on the homemade side of things too...Old Man Aaron wrote: Thu Feb 01, 2024 4:01 am I've never seen anything like it. I am not sure anybody is ready for that! - The alignment of parts leaves something to be desired.
Those of a fragile disposition, should look away now!

Re: Identifying source of loco
The body looks too good to be scratch built by the same person who built(?) the chassis/under frame?
I am wondering if it is a 'commercial' body, which has had different fixings used to try to make it more 'realistic'. - Crosshead screws on a roof look naff, to me.

I would go for home built too, those wheels are nothing like I have seen before, the strangest looking flanges
The body actually looks like it could be a very good home build or a bought one with modifications.

Re: Identifying source of loco
It does look like the two don't go together..
I wonder if the body is 'new old stock' from a closed-down supplier?
I might bring it to Stoneleigh, and see if anyone recognises it..
