The track was very slippy anyway, mine was struggling to move off with the 3 coaches a few times, something must have been dropping oil everywhere!

Minnie has had a blowdown valve fitted and a new water glass, this one with a red back.
For Christmas I received an IPE Daisy railcar and another MOD open. Both have had all the components cleaned up but work has stopped until I'm back in York at the end of the week. I'm not going to fiddle with the potting shed too much, looking at Brain's Miss Tick I'm going to add glazing and some sort of load in the back, and some other little details.

Thanks, the bogey open is a Brandbright kit and is pretty much straight from the box, save for a pair of lamp irons.

The railcar is now capable of self propelled movement and has been painted, given a fleet number and name 'The Potting Shed'! I'd like to say it looks like Indian red but it just doesn't although it is similar enough to the maroon on Minnie to look like it's weathered a bit. There are still a magnitude of jobs to do; adding some form of steps, making a dummy load to hide the batteries, and mutilating someone to fit in the cab spring to mind. The Shed is quieter than River Ankh, although I suspect a Deltic in full chat is quieter than River Ankh! :P

The blowdown valve is worked by a nut spinner that handily fits in her fire iron-rests

I was planning on going to a running day today, but a chest infection has got in the way.

The Potting Shed has been finished for around a week, but I was waiting to get pictures of it in snow today, grrr.

Here is the finished Potting Shed, doesn't look too bad, although the underside of the roof either needs painting or cleaning, and some sort of steps need to be fitted.

Instead of a ballast load I've decided to create a dummy fuel tank, she's built for long range running! The driver Offler's old driver, went up in the world being Minnie's driver for a while, and has now crashed well and truly into the ground!

It turns out I was quite lucky to be too ill to run a couple of weeks ago as I decided to fire Minnie up today and she was temperamental at best! Either that or she's sulking at not having a run since November

She's set fire to herself twice today (she's a fan of a certain blue Mamod) requiring a bolt on her gas system to be tightened, the blowdown valve leaks although it appears to be bedding down nicely now, and the water filler decided to join in, although a quick clean after cooling down sorted that.

Today I've been doing some tidying and uncovered/rescued the Brandbright coaches I started last summer, the 3 comp isn't too far from completion, and the Director's Saloon is largely there. I might just see if I can get them finished in time for Peterborough, even if I don't run anything it'll be nice to have them off the bench!
One of a pair of Busted Bricks vans I bought is going together nicely if I do say so myself, although academic pursuits are conspiring to keep it on the bench.

The running day yesterday wasn't exactly a classic, Minnie's burner was being stubborn and once I set the Shed off it started raining, precipitating my rapid withdrawal. On the bright side the Busted Bricks box vans looked good and seemed to run well, although I didn't manage to see what they do when propelled. And the Cleminson has earned a stay of execution as it's better than it was and when not on the rails, it's used as a storage vehicle for kits under construction.

The Easter running day might see River Ankh out to play, well she is slow and the Easter day is normally quite busy!

Thanks, you can't go wrong with kits these days. There is more I could and probably should do to them, fitting a representation of brakes for a start as nothing has any form of braking!:lol: Hopefully I'll do justice to the Brandbright coaches that have been on/off builds for the past 10 months, my word I can't beleive it's that long.

Sam,

The 16mm NGM standard coupling height was 24mm above rail height, which is 1ft 6ins and conforms to Ffestiniog Railway practice.

I have just rejoined the 16mm NGM and the above standard is not mentioned in the new Handbook so I'm not sure if that standard is still valid.

Offler has rejoined the working fleet, I've fitted Ivy's IPE basic chassis, all I needed to do was drill a pair of holes into the Croc God's footplate and jobs a good un.
