Note you are not shown how to fully remove the gas pipe & jet holder from the locomotive.

Confirms that it has the Mark II style lubricator sticking out on the right side. Also gained a lamp on the buffer beam. Look closely at the cab roof at 0:14 secs - appears to be a strange cut-out on the rear face.

These videos have not been posted on the Mamod website yet.

Can we identify the origin of the lamp?

It is not from Roundhouse (CLL), Garden Railway Specialists (FG240-245), Chuffed 2 Bits, Cambrian Models, IP Engineering, Steam 4 Fun, DJB Model Engineering or Brandbright (RSA75).

Looks similar to the Brandbright RSA126 lamp but these are no longer available.

Two thoughts, and a comment.

The lamp, didn't the roadster have lamps at one time?

The Mamod-esque safety valve. The IP/PPS pop type with the Mamod (BA26 or the like?) thread has a lower PSIG. However, the ME40 threaded safety valves for the copper boilers are set at 40 PSIG if memory serves. Could an upgrade valve be offered by using the existing body for the SL boiler and spring and setting for the higher pressure boiler? Maybe Roy Wood could chime in.

Comment, the lack of showing how to remove the pipe reminds me of a how to video from work on calibration on a piece of field equipment, they did not show one step.....as the person in the video could not actually do it herself!!

Safety Valves - The current safety valve used by Mamod on their locomotives is set for 40 PSI. The replacement safety valves previously offered by IP Eng & PPS were set to about 20 to 25 PSI, but could easily be adjusted to a maximum of 40 - 45 PSI (see my Topic here - http://gardenrails.myfreeforum.org/about6359.html ). Essentially they were the same safety valve as the ones offered for the high pressure replacement boiler but with a different boiler insert thread (Mamod 1/4" x 26 BSF, otherwise 1/4" x 40 TPI). The advantage of the aftermarket ones are that they release vertically whereas the Mamod one releases horizontally. Steam4Fun used to do a brass chest to fit on top of the Mamod safety valve so that it would release vertically but he has dropped them from his range - pity as I only got one so need to move it around my locos.


With regard to removing the gas pipe from the burner it is not as easy as Peter makes out in the video. As it has a right angle bend to go through the cab floor you actually need to unscrew the burner as well and move it forward so that the gas jet can be removed. I've just fitted a copper gas pipe to my William II and experienced this first hand.
