USA trains 4 wheel motor block

Post by listerboy » Fri Oct 19, 2012 10:49 pm

Hi

Does anybody have a picture of the USA trains 4 wheel motor block? It's the one GRS supplies. I can't find a pic of one online.

Thanks.

Here you go listerboy.

Years ago I bought a couple of complete trucks (with sideframes) direct from USA Trains.

The moulded gears gears had shrunk and were badly split on arrival from America.
At the time this was a known fault with USA Trains gears, so I was expecting it and replaced the gears with machined ones from North West Short Line who also supplied some 16mm friendly replacement wheels.

This was way back and it may be that the USA Trains gears are better now, but if they aren't at least you know where to go for spares :-)

Thanks tuppenced. Are they easy to take apart? Looks like I'm going to have to make some holes in the top for mounting.

Simple screwdriver job to dismantle.

On a complete truck, with sideframes, there's a bolster that goes over the top and includes a conventional pivot screw.

You can make one up yourself and screw it to the top plate. David
