any thoughts of extending it to cover the usual failings & fixes????

A Mamod Haynes manual whilst sounding a great idea would actually take a lot of time to produce.

First you start with the 7 original locos, SL1 to SL6 + SL1K, then add the variations, SVR 45mm SL1, straight chimney SL3, etc. and of course you then want all the Mamodification market items included as well.

Would take a life time to collect all the data. And if you wish to include MSS as well then more work as these seem to be less common than the old Mamod SLs.

However, the 16mm e-group (now a Yahoo group) produced their Mamod Handbook in March 2001, which is a collation of the various questions, problems and solutions. This is a useful start and should be part of everyone's Mamod library. PM me if you need a copy.

it seems a couple of folks took my comment a little too seriously  However, further to your comment about having to include all the variants - my Haynes for my VW1300 Beetle simply refers to the previous models in the intro

On a more serious note, having already mentioned my aversion to the 16mm Egroup, if you could send me a copy of the "handbook" please that'd be most appreciated!

Yesterdays steam test of my Jamod wasn't a complete success, only a couple of minor issues though that I've literaly just finished sorting - steam test No.2 beckons

So just given this loco another 2 runs on solid fuel.

1st was on blocks just to see nothing had changed. This used just under a 1/3rd of the water. So 2nd tablet was used to run the loco around my oval of Mamod track. After a small adjustment of the reverser setting it ran around the oval under control until the solid fuel had burnt through. Left with just over 1/4 of the water remaining.

No signs of priming which is great, a small steam leak from the reverser (rotating part probably needs honing whilst fitted to the reverser block) and a little water dribbling from the cylinders.

Certainly convinces me that my SL3's boiler needs a deep soaking in some cheap vinegar as it still primes and produces a wetter steam exhaust compared to this MSS loco.

Still compiling the fully illustrated MSS instructions.
