You may well have seen the video from my sister, now I have finally sorted through my 100+ pics and videos of yesterdays excellent steamup at the Forest Fields Railway in the Lake District. For the first time ever (and we've been going there since 2007!) it rained during the event, a fine steady drizzle that really did produce some lovely steam effects as locos did battle with the steep grades, including the spiral which is rapidly become the most popular piece of line in the NWAG for running on


As usual I got in there early and ran the first train, top'n'tailed with Owain and Criccieth Castle. This was I think frankly a work of genious, as putting the Cricc on the back not only allowed me to go right to the top of the spiral branch without worrying about propelling whilst also holding Owain back on all the downgrades and stopping things getting out of control

The pair and train at the top of the branch. The line was actually extended 1 1/2 yards into the shed during the day, maybe next time the line will finally be complete (track wise), although the garden is so big branches could be sent off in all directions!

Wren the Willi from the SLR north, which seemed to spend most of its time getting stuck under bridges...

Finally, the FFR has gained a proper station with a name even, here Linda and David William wait at Bouth

PTLRcecil bought along Morgana, his Millie and the PTLR-ANLR double header was the two millies, looking nice at the head of my carriages

Unfortunatly, when they went top'n'tailed for a run to the very top, the silly driver of the rear engine didn't know what stop meant, meaning that Gwydion tried to extend the railway by another yard despite no rails being there as it was shoved by Morgana. Oh well, first loco to reach this bit of the system!

Great pics Laalratty, and thanks to FFR Mike for a great day. Din't get many pictures, due to spending most of my time chasing Whinlatter around the garden. I'll get the few I took up tomorrow.
