I.P. Engineering 'Feanor'

Post by MTA » Tue Apr 28, 2009 1:33 pm

This was an unexpected addition to the fleet!

When my package from I.P. Engineering arrived I expected to find a Hudson Hunslet kit inside, only to find a Feanor!

I rang up I.P., and a couple of hours later they picked up my message. They took my address and what loco it was that I wanted. Ivan Prior was about to hang up when I said "What do you want me to do with the Feanor?" He replied "Have it on us!"

And now, it is completed bar painting and aesthetic mods.

The most difficult bit was bending the plasticard around the bonnet, oh and fitting the 4WD chain...

Sorry for the darkness, I'll get a better pic once it is all done.

I'll be painting it in maroon like the prototype.

HA! What is it with you eastern lads? Andy got a free one too off them due to some problem he had!

I'm in the middle of building a Feanor for a friend - it will be his first loco... it's a good kit, the bonnets a bit of a fiddle to get right but elastic bands always come to the rescue!

Eastern? Oh, I suppose we are from where you are

Whilst on the subject of free things, I managed to pick up about twenty imperial sockets and a few spanners from college last Friday :D They'll come in handy for Polar Bear's overhaul beginning at the end of next year ;)

No, that is the filler I use. It's not very good so I hope to find some other type.

Aren't bank holidays good for finishing those projects off?!
I finished the one I've been "commisioned" to make for my friend Mike ( www.tllr.webs.com ). It's named Bodmin and has a control panel, removable roof and badly painted wasp stripes

I am running into lots of problems building mine. Firstly I have messed up with the paint job and I have to take the wheels off for the second time and order a new gear set as the round gear bit snapped when putting it on and thought glueing it back together would work , but snapped again during a test run and I can't figure out the wiring diagram.

Dan,

In short, no!

In long, made-in-england wanted one so he bought mine off of me before I got around to painting it. He has since painted it.
