Thanks Rod for the compliments regarding my garden railway . So what day in the very near future are you planning to visit West Wales ? I ask as I hope to hold a running day weather permitting, on the 10th of August as part of the SW Wales groups meetings. Patrica Anne and you would be most welcome . P.M. me for details.
Chris.

Hello!

Only just catching up with this thread, very much like the look of your new line! "Linda"'s a beauty and looks very much at home. I'm interested that the Fosworks kit gives better speed control - I've just ordered a new loco and went for the conventional "aircraft" option (I quite like that "regulator" and "reverser" are separate, like the real thing), but maybe I should reconsider...

Hi Andrew
I find the Fosworks controller to be more accurate at speed control compared to the aircraft type joy sticks also the ability to have one's other hand free . To operate points in a hurry or hold a cuppa. The forward and reverse are operated via push buttons on the top of the unit. It was an extra £60 for the upgrade ,money well spent imo .

Nice looking train from the quick glimpse Chris, pity it was so fast though.

Yes It looks like its going like the clappers in the clip . My son in law took the only video clip of the day It was my first attempt at uploading a private video from Youtube to post on the forum. Its also in portrait mode not landscape . Some extra throttle is required on that curve as there is an incline into the station area . This is the fourth time that Linda has been run so still got L plates on. After all I am just a trainee Fireman.
A better example of the loco running slowly is the clip GilfachPhil posted for me on the previous page of this thread showing Linda running light.

There is a free app for iPhones ( I think it is also available for Android) called "Horizon" ( nothing to do with the Post Office!). It automatically takes video's in Landscape irrespective of the angle of the phone. so you can hold the phone vertically and get a landscape video.

That's handy.

Tried that "Horizon" App Rik, and it does work, but there is a very slight wobble. Nothing that would be of any concern really. Depends on how you you feel it spoils the content, for me it wouldn't be an issue considering I find it hard like most members to video and control live steamers and even battery ones to some extent.

I wonder if there's an Android equivalent

Rik
PS Mind you, it isn't that difficult to rotate the phone through 90° while filming

I agree there Rik, but it's really for when people find it difficult to video at a level following their locos and at the same time operate the loco. Most people do that don't they, follow their loco around the line and most, like me end up with a video that does move around a lot. This App allows for a better video to be produced and it's free, which is getting rare nowadays.

I hate watching videos also that are taken vertically, they alway end up with two huge black sides and there is a lot of the view missed because they do it that way....Why bother, but then it's up to individuals on how they like to view whatever what they like hey. :dontknow:

Getting on with building up the layout I came across some bargain conifers they were in need of rescuing. So after soaking them in a bowl of water I placed them in a planter trough next to the line . I intend to make a wall where the decking has been sprayed grey.

Quite a cavalcade there. I'm intrigued by that coach behind the garratt. Is it based on a particular prototype do you know?

Looks like it was fantastic Chris. Sorry I couldn't be there - especially as I missed out on seeing that DHR Garratt (which I have admired cold) actually in steam!
