Identification please: Loco

Post by Scrat » Thu Jul 18, 2024 10:38 am

This loco has been in my collection for years.
Gauge 1, seems homebuilt, runs on coal.
I have had her running on the rolling road and a few pieces of straight track only as she needs a big radius that I do not have.

Does anyone recognise the design?

Looks like an L.B.S.C (Curley Lawrence) design. The only ones I can find online are the “Pamela” in 3 1/2” gauge, or the “Sir Morris DeCowley” in 0 gauge.
My guess is that this is a home-built locomotive from LBSC plans.

Found it.

"His life and Locomotives" states this loco as " LBSCs "Ford Pacific".

The book also has a picture.
Does anyone have more info?

There's an online index for Model Engineer and if you enter Ford Pacific into the search page, it will list the issues you would need to track down. You might be lucky and find a public library that still has bound issues that far back.

It looks like it was a full blown project series over a number of ME issues in 1925.
