Hi Rod

I saw your comment and fully agree about the inspirational quality of Rik's work.

As I run on 45mm too, Rik's stuff is directly applicable to WIRL (if on a different level entirely).

It was Rik's tutorial on using Windows video editor that got me started on attempting to video - so far I have only uploaded one on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRU0r7gAizo last autumn.

I have had a bit of an enforced layoff over winter due to having a hip replaced, but it has meant some time for building rolling stock, using some of Rik's files and certainly his construction guides. And also allowed for further negotiations with SWMBO on an easement for some stations etc to be constructed this summer.

Perhaps we can catch-up at the 16mm Garden show at Peterborough or the Llangollen shows - although I am not totally sure I will be able to go to either yet.

Thanks Trevor. Well, I've been in awe of developments on your railway. Your modelling skills are way above what I could achieve but I've gained a lot of ideas and inspiration from your efforts. I think this could become cyclic......

Delightful again Rik. Shouldn't Tatty Viaduct be in the Tatti valley in mid Wales?
Just a question about the marvellous replacement viaduct - does it live outside all year, or does it get brought out for operating sessions? I tried the Compton stone on a model building (textured balsa slips on a foamex frame), which was out full time, and was in need of serious renovation after just 3 years. I've redone it now, replacing the balsa with thin but dense foam board. Hopefully it will last a little better.

No, I take it inside when not being used. I have constructed an embankment using the same technique but, although I hardened the balsa with plasticiser it has still deteriorated after five years.

There are two sorts of point levers - the black flat type are bog standard LGB ones. I tend to use these where I am likely to walk on the railway (eg to cut the hedges behind). The others are my own make - https://riksrailway.blogspot.com/2021/0 ... evers.html

Great stuff Rik. One minute per month is a brilliant idea.
As Peter said, there are some dedicated travelers on the PLR.
Your camera is really good - I liked the shot at Peckforton as the diesel trundled past and the cab interior was in focus as well as the background train pulling into the station.
It seemed that Harthill's whistle was a bit ' happier' in Júne than in freezing January .
Next year's January episode should show ice skaters on the frozen river, and an icicle on the end platform passenger's nose.
