PLR station seats
PLR station seats
At last got around to putting together the railway seats with PLR logos which were laser cut for me around two years ago. I decided the figures I've just painted needed somewhere to sit.....
The chap who laser cut them for me posted something on Facebook offering the service - but it was two years ago and just checked and can't now find his contact details .
It's surprising how much difference there is in the size of figures purportedly advertised as for 16mm scale - I suspect there are some G Scale interlopers .... .
Now all stored, ready for deployment when the running season re-starts. .

PS - EDIT: Now found his details but it looks like he's not offered the service for the last two years so I doubt he's still 'trading'. I've messaged him just in case.

Re: PLR station seats
They do look good Rik, and personal to your railway. What material are they made of?
In the intervening years it is possible that there are more laser cutting services available and probable that the cost has been reduced?

The best things in life are free.... so why am I doing this?
Re: PLR station seats
They look excellent Rik, well done.
I did try printing monogram initials on my benches when I did them, but they were too small for my printer to cope with at the time. So thats one thing that 3D printing can't help with. My techniques have improved in the last couple of years but I doubt it will make much difference in this instance.
I wonder if BustedBricks might be able to help? I seem to remember that he posted some incredibly fine laser cutting trial pieces not so long ago.

It's some form of rigid plastic for the frames and thin ply for the laths.
I think he only charged £1 per bench, which was incredibly cheap.

I have heard back from him and he says he will still offer the service but won't be home until Easter. Looking at his personal FB page I suspect he's at university.philipy wrote: ↑Mon Mar 02, 2020 11:57 am They look excellent Rik, well done.

Re: PLR station seats
They're looking very good Rik, as do the figures - and it's great to see the PLR gearing up for another season!
Cheers,
Andrew.

Re: PLR station seats
Charles (of the bespoke platform benches) has been back in touch so if anyone wants him to make up kits let me know. I think the price has increased to £2 each but even that seems like a bargain. He says he would need any artwork before the end of March if you want bespoke seats making. I just sent him a b/w image of the PLR monogram which I drew up in PowerPoint or a Draw package
