Post by Rob » Fri Mar 27, 2009 10:20 pm

im now ready to spend a little on some stock for my line.

i had a look through some of the videos on here today and noticed lots of nice looking carriages.

my thoughts where, who and what dodels are they?

i have been looking at the vale of rheidol coaches, the matchboard passanger coach kit and the short matchboard passanger kit.

what are peoples thoughts?

thanks

Well if you are thinking of the IP engineering Vale of Rheidols, I think they are very good, especially for the price. If you a a beginer the laser cutting of these kits helps so much because you don't have to worry about bits being the wrong size.
If any of the videos you saw featured my carriages (green and cream colours) them i'm afraid they were all scratchbuilt, which can be fun, and is a lot cheaper, although it is best to get a kit first just so you get a feel of how to put a coach together.

Iv never been good at building coach kits, the last 1 I made I burnt because it was so dreadfully bad :(

I prefer to kit bash LGB coaches but might purchase 1 of the new classic range at stoneleigh from ip and give that a go

I'd echo that - if you're quick, take a look at http://16mm.org.uk/ and look at my effort in the "Model of the Month" section. I'm getting another couple at Stoneleigh............
