A new supplier - Invicta Model Works

I've come across a relatively new supplier for both 16mm and 7/8th scale garden railways. Particularly useful if you haven't gone down the route of buying your own 3D printer. You can find them on ebay at https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/invictamodelworks or by email at invictamodelworks[at]outlook.com . ...

Ooh,
Back in North Yorkshire. Keep an eye on him - he has an eye for the ladies. And the drink. And just about any vice you can name!

Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan

Thank you. It was all OK. I grabbed both, as the loco collided with the phone, fearful something was going in the pond. I may have had Lonsdaler’s gravity train, pond story at the back of my mind. All's well on that front - still works over 12 months on! I must let Chris Rennie know that his gravit...

Looks good Rik, and will as you say add a new dimension to operating. Your plans are very photogenic as well!

Re: Peckforton Light Railway - Video Library

Delightful again Rik. Shouldn't Tatty Viaduct be in the Tatti valley in mid Wales?🤔😅 Just a question about the marvellous replacement viaduct - does it live outside all year, or does it get brought out for operating sessions? I tried the Compton stone on a model building (textured balsa slips on a f...

Re: Spring has Sprung!

Same here in (western) North Yorkshire where hedges and trees are just showing the first flush of green. Visiting friends near Castle Howard (same county and latitude but further east) a couple of weeks ago and we were surprised how much more advanced their spring was, with trees already in leaf.

Rik
Another excellent video Rik, and good to see Beeston Market in relation to the rest of the garden and house. Brought back memories of seeing your posts regarding the ballasting and cattle dock at the time you did the work too.

You're close enough for a day trip to Roundhouse in Doncaster. I'm sure they would be able to sort the issue for you🤔

Good luck Aaron, you've given yourself a mountain of work to do! But, as Tony W (sort of) says - there is only one true gauge!

Re: Stockpiling structures

Just to echo what others have said, the lighting effect is very atmospheric. I too was wondering why you were still using grain of wheat - that picture answers that. I'm looking forward to seeing you get a railway going again Aaron - you have an eye for realistic detail.👍🏻

That railcar is very smart, and strangely familiar - in memory, it might even have been from one of the Ladybird travel books (Peter & Susan? freeload on Dad's business trips  )

Re: Help please - if you can

Oops. Misremembered her age despite the extra couple of years suggesting a more plausible date. Glad you’ve found your answer, Rik. Though I’m now feeling sad that Jeanette, who I’d never heard of a couple of days ago, dies so young and is not around to tell her (great) grandchildren about the day ...

Re: Help please - if you can

Well done Simon,
A check of the British Newspaper archive prompted by your search suggests 1983 (she was 25, not 23). However, the publication date is 15th April 1983? :dontknow:
Next question, Mr Bennett?

Re: Constructing an Embankment

Glad you are happy with it and it does look fine, but to my mind it actually looked better yesterday with the 'dirty yellow water' showing between the gravel banks. I agree with Philip. You should be able to create some washout along the line that the creek would flow, and use sand or finer gravel ...

Re: The Railway in the Valley of the Mill

The visuals throughout your line are superb, and Simon has made excellent use of them with the photos he's taken. The picture of Dduallt gives an indication of how Tanygrisiau will mellow and become a stunning feature. Where to on the continuation though? Are we going to be seeing Blaneau station in...
