Ditto Andrew. In fact I seem to be going backwards compared to Matt! I've manage to clear a fairly major 12" to the foot track design job off the table today and rolled out the garden plans again. If I can get back home at a reasonable time tomorrow I'll crack on with some more landscaping - l...

try wickes/ buildbase/ jewsons/ travis perkins for breeze blocks.

the garden centre is a good place to pick up rock. also worth checking out freecycle as there is often people getting rid of rocks etc on there (i got mine from someone removing a rockery)

a coach chassis isnt hard to build joe. you can buy axleboxes and wheels from various places and then you can use strip wood to build a basic frame. by building the chassis yourself you can be sure to get what you want.

as an aside, what sort of small ffest carriage are you thinking of?

Very nice Matt. I really like the way that your station area is developing and establishing. It's beginning to look really well established now. The middle of the loop looks like a very nice place to sit and watch the trains go by now - well done! Andrew Thanks for the encouragement! i'm happy with...

wow! it seems i've been rather lax on updating this thread of late... The line has continued to evolve, particularly the area of garden inside the loop at the end of the garden. As always photos speak louder than words.... The table top section of the line had an island platform added and the coalin...

its important to make sure you also know the thread size you require for boiler bushes. once you have your bush and have drilled the opening you then need to silver solder the bush in place. one thing worth bearing in mind, when you silver solder the bush it expands and the threads can change pitch ...

I believe the basic sides ends etc will be availible shortly. I offer a building service via the barley pit works (www.facebook.com/barleypitworks) and can make these to order if required.

So the line resently sold off 'Barle' the ragleth class loco, this was a bid to raise funds to find a loco better suited to the lines passenger service. Luckily the director was able to quickly locate a 2-4-2 Baldwin 'lyn'. http://i1365.photobucket.com/albums/r760/Matt_Towell/F77004A7-E1B2-49DB-B136...

The cylinders were old roundhouse ones and were stored in a sealed bag and coated in steam oil. Thankfully all working well. I only replaced seals out of habit rather than them actually needing replacing.
