This pile of junk is back on again, the original winner must have sensibly returned the item to the seller.

Re: eBay madness
I've noticed a lot of 'Used but not tested' in the descriptions these days which I think is a euphemism for the seller is a mechanical incompetent or a lazy dumbf**k. This caught my eye recently which is probably rare but in my opinion a rare piece of junk, I thought maybe I could change the mickey ...

WDLR Wagon E type
I've manged to acquire a Swanswood kit of the E wagon and made it this weekend, I had the Wrightscale bogies already and produced my own decals using three different fonts in Coreldraw to create an accurate text. It's a very good kit but has a couple of odd features i.e the whole lower and end secti...

Re: Cost of OO against 16mm
What interests me is the availability of the L and B in 009 and now WD locos like the Badwin 4-6-0 and 2-6-2 ready to run! Its just about 4 decades too late for me having moved on to 16mm years ago. Having said that the 009 prices are pretty hefty but probably reflects the microscopic Narrow Gauge m...

Good Service from Walsall Model Industries
I'm doing some repairs to my Archangel coal fired 'Jack' to get it to run more sweetly and inadvertently damaged a set of wheels getting them off the axle, So I ordered a set of near replacements from Walsall Model Industries and have just received them and what a nice job they are too! These Wheels...

Shame it was such a dull loco I would have chosen something more interesting.

Re: Wheel profile Lathe form tool
OK I'm answering my own question here but It may be useful for future reference:_

The tool 'Gauge 1 Standard' is the right one.

Re: Wheel profile Lathe form tool
OK thanks guys, I hadn't thought of that I think. I'll get some wagon wheel rims of the correct diameter and cnc machine some centres and shrink the tyres on.

Wheel profile Lathe form tool
Hi has anyone come across a pre-made Lathe form tool for turning wheel profiles? I presume ours would need to be coarse scale gauge 'O' I've looked online and in my catalogues but nothing comes up.
Thanks in advance.

Re: New Archangel Loco Works website
For me the real issue is this:- How many railway modellers are in your town/village? How many of those into narrow gauge and then how many of those into railways in the garden, then out of those who are interested in your particular slant of the thing your selling? It just gets smaller and smaller. ...

Re: New Archangel Loco Works website
I only wish if that somebody did a cheap loco that the chassis had the cylinders and wheel arrangement that could be made into a scale loco. Too many of these freelance locos have god awful driving wheels and too long a wheelbase that is no good for a lot of real engines, so that's why I never buy ...

Re: New Archangel Loco Works website
I get a bit confused - many people say they can't afford the current crop of locomotives, yet there is very little interest in a simpler, more affordable loco. Is it a case of it has to be a scale loco or not at all? Personally I just like running live steam engines and am less concerned whether it...

Re: New Archangel Loco Works website
Those that moan about prices should have a go and build one! I bet the silence afterwards would be deafening! There aren't many purchases you can make these days that hold their value. They're technically more interesting too with side tanks that hold water and onboard hand and crosshead feed pumps. ...

Re: eBay madness
Am I missing something here? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/263309726511 Rik Yes what you're missing is the highly dubious aspect of 'shipping from UK' but location is USA! How they get away with that is beyond me I've always found ebay quite draconian and never miss a trick, perhaps they only pick on ...

Re: eBay madness
This one amused me, I've been watching it and it has been a shade under 2K for months then it suddenly went up £500!? A week later I got a message from ebay saying 'the item your'e watching has been reduced by £500! had a look and it was back down to just under 2K again. Nice try sunshine but nobody...
