Never seen that one before, though I have sometimes heard of setting the price at a million dollars and only accepting an offer of the actual price from Gerhard.

Re: Rack railway crossover

:D I had a bit of trouble with the video because of Facebook, but in case it helps anyone else, here's a Youtube link. https://youtube.com/shorts/wWigWHwpcXc I've seen some really wild turnout alternatives, from the slide plates used on other cog railways, to gregh's turntable switches, but this one...

Re: Nolwyn Valley Tramway

The new Boot Lane Works Minty looks like it could be a good contender for your line, small and practical Sorry I missed this earlier... It does indeed look like it would fit in perfectly. It sort of reminds me of a Kerr Stuart Wren, but with side tanks-- which I think look very nice and hide the mo...

Re: How do they do it?

It's always hard to tell the exact quantity (AliExpress?) but it looks like that might be the price for one (Color:1pcs). When I select the 10pcs "color" it's a bit more like $7... though it's impressive either way. From what I can figure on the BOM I'd expect they cost around 10-20 cents ...

Testing out the new cattle wagon after doing some electrical work on Thornas, and certain flaws in the design and construction of the latter are becoming evident with more running time. The frame and cab floor are both splitting around holes that should be at least reinforced and more likely bushed,...

Re: A relaxing watch.

I recently learned that it's common practice on steep railways to use gravity instead of couplings, so that in the case of an engine falling off the tracks (as one infamously did on the Snowdon Mountain Railway in 1896), the carriage isn't pulled off as well.

I went to 'like' the video and noticed I already had! I also spotted our own Nigel B in the comments.

Though I'll say 'sometimes' is getting to be a lot more frequent since I started following so many of y'all.

Re: A tiny G gauge indoor layout

Very inspirational Greg. It has now gotten me thinking about pulling up my HO layout that has not been touched for over 2 years. I am planning some storage tracks in the part of the shed where it is but I am now thinking a small branch line off the line coming in to the shed. I have a rocky river b...

Great video as usual Rik. I particularly like the end scene (December) - that slight incline really adds a level of realism to the whole scene. :thumbright: Thanks. A couple of people have made similar comments. One even suggested it was similar to the Lumiere Brothers' first cine film, which I fel...

Neat little loco. You could start a trend..... :) Rik I'm just riding the wave. Mostly inspired by some models I've seen on Carl Arendt's site, stubby cars & trucks, and things like this: https://youtu.be/7DIH7S0X89k (Note, this is not my work, just something that provides inspiration!) Also th...

Re: Nolwyn Valley Tramway

Thanks guys! Rod, I'll have to look into that... I think I can kind of picture it. I'm thinking for now I'll probably make some slightly chunkier pulleys and find some rubber O-rings that will fit, (as I've done with MOKE, see post #1) but I've also been looking into small chains. Unless I redesign ...

Re: Nolwyn Valley Tramway

In my last post I conveniently cropped out the locomotive in the front of the train, as I didn't feel it was complete enough to reveal. I've put some work into it this week and I'd like to introduce "Furcy", the latest addition to the Nolwyn Valley roster: Screenshot_20230802-215336__01.jp...

Re: Snowplough in Summer

I'd marveled a bit while watching, about how extensive the rebuild had been! It looks like a very substantial piece of equipment. Would love to see it plow snow someday. A video of an operating G scale snowplow was one of the final pushes that got me started modeling for the garden. (I have a pilot-...

Re: A couple of locos ready for testing

I was wondering if it might be this one from Thingiverse , rescaled from 7mm? I had considered attempting something similar except that I only want a single fairlie, and I promised myself no more locos until the line outside is ready. From reading signs in a video I was able to find that the micro l...

Re: A couple of locos ready for testing

Beautiful models, and that's pretty impressive that it can negotiate the curves on the LocoRemote track. I have a feeling the Fairlie might have some trouble if it tried a stunt like that. I've got a fair set of that track for playing inside, but only a small subset of my stock will tolerate it.... ...

I don't think so... There's a hinge pin in the coupling rod, but only to allow for vertical movement. Which reminds me of another interesting prototype, the Hagens Oscillating Lever System. http://www.douglas-self.com/MUSEUM/LOCOLOCO/hagans/hagans.htm hag1.gif I stand corrected... Re: LITTLE VAN FOR FWLR

This is what I found on the web. It's in the USA and looks a decent machine, better than mine that's for sure. It has the advantage of a sanding disc and four blades. I am not involved with this company, so it's your choice if you decide to buy one. I would though... :thumbright: :thumbright: If yo...
