Hey all, I've been a member here for sometime but have never had anything to post as most of my live steam was stationary and I often buy, repair/modify and resell.  However, I have finally decided it is time to put some time and money into a proper engine, or at this stage a boiler. I am a member on a few other forums (so you may have already seen this) but having seen all the wonderful posts on this forum I felt I should share what I am up to

I am building a coal fired locomotive boiler - not for any particular engine but it is of similar size (I believe) to the DJB engineering coal boilers for Accucraft (correct me if I am wrong, I always (forget) so maybe at some stage I will look into those or pass this boiler on to someone. Anyway here is my progress:

A week (maybe two, I'm so busy I can hardly tell anymore) ago I received this in the mail:

From here I proceeded to make my moulds

Unfortunately I did not photograph any of the boiler shell while being annealed but this photo gives an idea of what happens

The two boiler case: the one with the higher hole will be attached to the boiler barrel and the lower hole is for the fire box door.

I used some very fine sandpaper P600-1200 to bring the metal up and then drilled the holes for the five fire tubes:

I mean to make one of these boilers myself one day. I'm looking forward to seeing how you get on.
