Oh, yesssssss, gimme gimme gimme.

Thwack, bang, crump. (Sound of being lightly beaten around the bonce with the stick of common sense and the cricket bat of rational thought)

(Ahem) Perhaps not.

I fully understand that these are un common and I don't want to detract from the fact that there are people out there who might want one. I wouldn't say no to one gracing the shelves of my study as a curio. However I think this might be over the top for a value.
I can see the difficulties in setting a value for something like this and I would be very interested in what some of the forum members, whom I know have one, say about a price for it.
Although at the end of the day I suspect that a fair price for something like this is a price that the buyer and seller are both happy with.

A nice little wagon, for a rather high price.

However, by playing the devil's advocate, If this is handmade or scratchbuilt how much is it worth?

If we look at the time it takes to make something, how much is an individuals labour worth? My local mobile mechanic charges £20 per hour, a skilled worker with few overheads. If someone is producing something as a business then what should we be paying?

The IP brake van I just completed took me at least 30hrs, If I was to sell it i would be lucky to get £75 quid. If I was working commercially that is not enough to support anything.

I agree with all you have said Jim, but it wouldn’t be viable to contemplate doing that has a business if it takes someone a long time to produce would it. If i had took 30 hours or more to build something, i wouldn’t sell i don’t think, unless some one offered me silly money for it... :D

I see in the original posting that Harry the overpriced rocket, to which Big Jim drew our attention, was located in Gurnard, Isle of Wight. Definitely something fishy about it! :P
Probably went to someone with a hipster beard and silly trousers as a shelf ornament.

In a word No, but half a dozen idiots have managed to bid it up from £28

In the "Also looked at.." section further down that listing is an unfired one with all the bits, for £70!!

I've noticed a lot of 'Used but not tested' in the descriptions these days which I think is a euphemism for the seller is a mechanical incompetent or a lazy dumbf**k.

This caught my eye recently which is probably rare but in my opinion a rare piece of junk, I thought maybe I could change the mickey mouse cylinders but decided that it was too far away from a scale 'Rheidol' that it wasn't worth it.

The other one is a strange loco, I thought it might be an Archangel Brick in disguise but it had a dome? and then again it may be just a copy using just a discarded boiler off a Sgt Murphy and because you couldn't restore it without throwing most of it away into a catalogue Archangel loco [ which one anyway] I didn't bid.

The price of both of those locos you can buy working second hand live steamers from reliable manufacturers.

Not sure why you think this one is bad Tom. There's over £100-worth of wheels, axleguards/bogies and couplings on these three vehicles, and once that is deducted then £30 each seems not far off a bargain to me.
