Where to get a coach chassi/frames?
Where to get a coach chassi/frames?
Hi all, does anyone know where i can get a coach chassi? (or frames-not sure on correct terminology) do any company make them? The reason i ask is that I hope to build a coach body but would like a 4 wheel chassi for it to sit on; i know that ip engineering etc make coach bogies but im after the shorter wheelbase solid structure chassi if you know what i mean?
cheers
Joe

You could use the flatbed from HGLW:

If you need a longer chassis, David can probably make one for you.

Can also recommend the flat bed wagon kit from HGLW
Very solid chassis due to the slot & tab construction, and the chassis cutouts on the underside are ideal for adding additional weight - I have glued lead flashing into those pockets as seen in the image above.
If you are looking for a coach in this size why not consider his Coach J kit. Here is mine under construction.

a coach chassis isnt hard to build joe. you can buy axleboxes and wheels from various places and then you can use strip wood to build a basic frame. by building the chassis yourself you can be sure to get what you want.
as an aside, what sort of small ffest carriage are you thinking of?

Ok might have a look for some wood then matt - I've got some suitable wood for the body. As I already have a 'flying bench' I was thinking about something like this http://www.silvertraveladvisor.com/syst ... 1DA16D.jpg which is the slightly more civalised way to travel
