COVID Siding

Well, whilst theres not much else going on i'm going to install a new siding which will allow for a couple more trains to run at the same time under automation (currently 4 run without issue or traffic jams but this will make is 5, possibly 6)
Options A & B being considered are below, i'm favouring B as it effectively extends the station bypass line and could be formed of two short blocks (i.e the computer will be able to store two trains here one behind the other) as its just over 4m long.
Option A:
Inside the outer loop

Option B:

B looks like the easier option.

Those sidings look REALLY handy, I'm sure you won't regret adding them. I'm rather envious of your indoor storage sidings too...
I'm always trying to work out how/where to cram in extra sidings but I think I'm at capacity!
All the best,
Andrew.

Clever idea to add those sidings outside the garage storage area.

Great job done with the sidings. Will be great to see with a loco running on video...

Great to see trains running - and even a glimpse of the tanker train reflected in the window....

I've not been here for a while - so joining this discussion perhaps a bit too late.
There is quite a lot of 'Standard' gauge stock available in 'G' scale - on 45mm there is the Bachmann 'Thomas' products, which can be improved - and in Gauge '3' there is even more choice - although (being standard gauge) it runs on 2.5" track (63.5mm) - available from Cliff Barker. There is also quite a choice of locomotives these days both battery electric and live steam.
Gauge '3' people often convert 'Thomas' wagons to run on 2.5" - but of course G3 wagons could also be re-gauged for 45mm if you really wanted UK outline 45mm "G". Have a look at Williams Models or GRS for a sample of what you can get in 'Standard Gauge G' these days. :-)

New storage area building in progress to replace the 2 x garage "dead end" sidings with a three road storage fiddle yard arrangement fed from within the garage.

My thoughts precisely! I wondered what it was going to become when I saw the shot of the framework, but it certainly looks the bee's knees - or should it be bees' knees.... ?? - I suspect it must be the latter owing to the size of the structure.
Is the top shelf going to store stock or buildings etc.?

Roll-in/roll-out storage, that's the way to go.

Hi Rik
Top shelf is for some of the general clutter from the garage with trains underneath, admittedly most of that general clutter is railway related!

Agreed, if starting again I would have no sidings with buffers, I'm only down to the storage in the garage plus one very raerly used loco storage siding outside and can live with that
