The sad news of Colin Binnie passing away

Post by alan2525 » Sun Dec 14, 2008 9:38 pm

I've just heard that Colin Binnie of Binnie Engineering has passed away. He suffered a heart attack and had been on life support for several days, he died in hospital this weekend.

To those that do not know of him, he was a great engineer, cartoonist, bodgeller and a real asset to the world of 16mm Garden Railways. Many of his articles appear in back issues of Garden Railway magazines and the likes of SMT.

He will be dearly missed.

Yes, it's a terrible loss to the hobby.

May I add that it is not he but his son who runs Binnie Engineering.

Yes, even though I never knew the lad, its sad :( . But hey, his memory still lives on, at least his son Peter is there to carry on in his father's footsteps.

Very sad, his postings on the E group were always of interest, and I must say some of those cartoons in the e group files are hilarious, whislt also showing a great talent for drawing, im sure he will be missed in many ways

Very sad news indeed. I had the pleasure of meeting him a few years ago, and saw his little vertical boilered loco in action.

There's a tribute to Colin on my web site. We shall not see his like again.
