Good evening,

Having run my Accucraft WD Baldwin recently I've decided that the time has come to turn it into a version of the Welsh Highland's 590.

The first task will be to remove the big headlamps it currently sports - does anyone know what size nuts Accucraft use so that I can purchase the necessary spanners or spinners? I don't have any that small, the nuts holding the lamps on are tiny. There are others a little larger that hold on other bits that might also want to come off later, so I'll probably purchase a set, but need to know what sizes.

I've Emailed Accucraft but haven't had a reply as yet - I'm sure they'll get back to me but I'm keen to get stuck in, so wonder if anyone here knows?

Accucraft use metric nuts and bolts, so getting yourself a set of metric nut spinners would be a good idea with a pretty good chance of having one that fits.

Accucraft use 2mm & 3mm hex head bolts, and the nut spinner supplied with the loco is very cheaply made & pretty useless.

That set of nut spinners is ideal. I was going to get some from Track Shack but they are 'Out of Stock' at present.

Those will do the job. I've got a set exactly the same, though they came from Trackshack, and they seem to fit anything on an Accucraft loco. The commonest size of nut/ screw eg the buffer beam screws are 3mm, the smaller ones 2mm. You just beat me to it, Chris !

According to their website my local model shop has some in stock, so I can get 'em at lunchtime and don't even have to pay or wait for postage...

The tools were indeed available and were purchased at lunchtime - I'm now looking forward to an evening of spinning my nuts off. Who wouldn't?

Job's a good 'un! All done - the lamps are off, and they're going to look a treat on my Konrad... Isn't it a pleasure doing a job when you'e got the right tools???
