I made my SMT toolbox today, painted and weathered it as well.

I've built the toolbox, was going to solder, but as I'm not fantastic at it, and it need not withstand great pressure just used glue.

The last vehicle signs will be painted as per FfR and have a hook fitted for use on slate trains.
Whistle boards on some rail.
The other bits can await their turn...

Well needless to say i've aquired some more "built 2008" signs off Jools and SLRmidge so that I can put them on my carriages that have been finished this year, I have been looking for some appropriate builders plates for ages for my coaches :D
The signs will be stuck on rail I think for signs, apart from that funny one about "itinerant musicians" and "females of doubtful reputation", that is being stuck on the new station building at Afonglas. Last Vehical signs look useful as well, i'll find a way of fitting them to my slate wagons, and the toolbox will end up on either Caradoc or my christmas present ;)  :D  :D
"What the hell is that?"

"It's a bit big isn't it?"
"It's a full scale model sir....."

Lol, I can tell that that is going to be your favourite sign. Hmm just had a thought, does 'itinerant musicians' include the Tetley Tea Band?

They need fitting to the back of any unfitted train, I think I've even seen one on the back of No.6. If you don't have an old coopercraft slate waggon hooks then I have some which I'll be happy to post you, this is how I'm planning to fit them at the moment anyhow.

Will SMT come regularly with a little plastic bag of brass etches on the front cover? I think the lure of apparent freebies will hook in a few more members!

I keep meaning to pop my cheque in the post!

I can certainly recommend joining for my £8.00 and 1 off joining fee of £3.00 I got 3 16 mm mags, a mag for beginners, some brass parts (toolbox and signs) and a load of other useful stuff. :D
Iv already used the contact information you get for local groups to get myself invited to an indoor steam up between Christmas and the new year. :D
and after seeing all the vendors list for Stoneleigh next year my parents have agreed to take me. 8)

I finally got some pics today of mine, now fixed on Columba's running plate. My toolbox is modified a bit (because I broke the lid panels off!!), so I made it into one of those open toolboxes and added a hammer for hitting those Mamods with!

Just been experimenting, I had to file out a Binnie hook and make it fit, unless you cut in to your slate wagon, using a cooper craft one would be rather hard I think.

looks good, can you get the binnie hooks from their skip kits or do you have to get the wooden slate waggons?

You have to get their wooden slate waggon, there's 3 with each waggon, I have a spare if you're in need?
