Nice to see the bridge in place. My replacement is still in "kit" form in the garage!

:O RC ragleth is good.. my Caradoc which is essentially the same, is great on RC. I can get about an hour out of it on one fill of gas.

Having visited the Leighton Buzzard railway with Laurence I then went on to have a quick steam up on the A and CR.
Image
I took River Tang along, she behaved herself rather well, I think Laurence rather enjoyed it when he had a go.
Image
I managed to set a record for the slowest lap at 2mins and 20 seconds non stop - I was rather pleased.
Next up came a comparison with the Roundhouse L and M loco.

Its a rather large lump of locomotive... The A and CR is a good example of what can be done in a small space - the rocky scenic section at the bottom with the pond is my favorite - a good railway for sitting and watching the trains go by with a cup of tea. Thanks go to Laurence 703 for a good day!

It's been a while and I've been busy...
I've added in the last bridge, its not exactly L&B friendly but it is leek and manifold friendly but that'll be changed in time.

Image

Also a small amount of ballasting has happened, its loose stone chippings I found on a siding at work...

Image

Jaws the snowplough has been modded once more and acts as a great ballast plough... still... I have a rubber strip to add.

Image

My other half's Bertie certainly looks the part...

Image

The sweet pea tunnel / over bridge is in full swing...

Image

And finally, running in winter has never been so easy! especially with the honeysuckle being no more!

Image

That's it for the time being... the line's first open day is Saturday so everything will be tested... Probably going to need more sidings... there is a plan that involves much destruction of the shed... :D

I do hope this destruction is thought through!

It is indeed... My Dad goes into shed and passes stuff out... Shed is removed and the roof kept... decking replaces shed and roof goes above decking... Current sidings removed and ramp put in to slightly raised steaming bays on decking with stock sidings underneath... Could possibly extend mainline from waterfall to the stock sidings... ;)

River Tang and the L&M nose to nose reminds me of the pic in Calthrop's 'Light Railways' of the first Barsi Light locomotive - a rather delicate looking 0-6-0T, and the first Calthrop 0-8-4T.

The Leek is just huge. It makes a lot of things look tiny...

But yes, plans are afoot... Plans so devious, I could pin tails on them and call them weasels... All after xmas though...

It helps when you have a Garden Railway, some good friends and a Fiancee who wants to take an interest in your hobby... one trip to Elsecar later and I'm signing my life away at Roundhouse for a Blue Bertie!

Apologies.. Life's hectic... Ok so blue Bertie has a new home with LnBmad... And I have another Bertie but this time it's crimson lake. Also superior has returned from the wizard of wigfa with an overhauled bottom end.

On the railway front, Awchit station has gained a water tower and there are plans afoot to slightly extend the railway... By blowing up the shed...not literally of course, it's just I hate it and want it gone as it takes up too much room in the garden and is full of spiders... So with it gone the pond's waterfall will move around a bit and the line from Cyder station will curve away from the current route and around the fence line... This means that the removable bridge section will become redundant, but not completely useless as I have plans for it that involves a bit of chopping and changing. With some luck it will improve the look of the garden and give some more space. This means that my two long sidings in front of the shed will go and be replaced by the mainline so a new location for the sidings will be sought out after the demise of the spider cave... A new cupboard will appear on the patio above 50p corner giving the possibility of a short tunnel... Got to have somewhere for the lawnmower and strimmer...

Spring is breaking out even here in darkest West Wales..... it is so good to have some colour in the garden, it makes you want to spend time with the railway.

Peter is right, a bit of colour is really great - and those crocuses look beautiful.

Your ballasting is a real picture too, I'm very impressed with how the pway looks. What did you use?
