Silverdale Light Railway (N) Spring Steamup

Post by laalratty » Sun Apr 27, 2014 8:35 pm

Yesterday, SLRmidge threw open the rails of his Silverdale Light Railway (North) to the whole of the NWAG, as usual held fairly early in the year before vegetation growth makes his line completely unusable (this state of affairs usually happens around the middle of June). As it was the first few trains had to push their way through the early season growth, although one of the real track trouble spots had been relaid with new track and trackbed a couple of days before. Victor Isle was nowhere to be seen (although he was believed to be continuing his efforts to get the line closed) However, there were no crashes for once and only one instance of a loco rolling on its side after a train derailed.

Something a bit more familiar, Hartside from the Forest Fields Railway, we're next off there in the middle of June. FFR Mike also brought news of a further extension to his railway following land acquisition.

Many thanks to SLR midge for a good afternoon. Next week, the return of PTLR fest!

"It's a model icebreaker sir."
"It's a bit big isn't it?"
"It's a full scale model sir....."

If you think I fear something as puny as a mouse, you must be even more deluded then I thought.
Just as I would expect from this inept railway, there is no indication of any improvement at all from this railway, with the exception that it appears for once that there were no crashes. Presumably this has something to do with the lack of SLR locos running.

Lovely scenery, the weedy tracks with the trains running on them look very good. Where I live you can't get that type of growth. It must be a bit of extra work to keep the tracks clear but it looks very nice.

And guess who actually does the extra work to make the line useable, and as a hint it certainly isn't SLRmidge :P
