Having built the Guards Van, the Cattle Wagon and the Parcels Van and then put them together as a working train, I can see omissions in my expanding fleet.
So, today it was time to put that right and begin yet another item of stock. No, that's not quite true! I began TWO items of stock....
On the workbench can be seen another covered van, this time from the GVT but with alterations to suit my other stock.
Also, a four plank open wagon base on the W&L (again)
To permanently fit a load of either coal or gravel I have set inside a raised platform to lessen the quantity of material. underneath this, at floor level, is a lead sheet weight for stability.
I have scribed the planks and wood grain effects and added corner strapping. Just the doors, end strapping, hinges etc. to add before painting. As yet I have no axleguards to fit these wagons but that can wait.
The covered van is more advanced with the doors, bracing and framework fitted so far. Inside can be seen the strengthening pieces I use to make the structure strong. This van also has lead sheet weights stuck inside at floor level.
I´m concerned about the UK´s rapidly diminishing stock of plasticard
