Hello Everyone,

Last question of the night, any tips on how to simulate fabric seating without getting out my miniature sowing machine?

Look at the stuff on this page................. http://hobby.uk.com/finishing-products/ ... erial.html - it's self-adhesive!

I bought some nice fabric from a local Haberdashery and use copydex to stick it onto some seats made of wood. The fabric is pulled tight over the seat and stuck underneath so it looks properly upholstered. To be really posh I put in a little cotton padding but really its unnecessary.

You could shape the upholstery with air drying modelling clay and push coarse textured material into the surface to mark it or use clay modelling tools. Then paint it the colours you want. Use pin heads for upholstery buttons etc.

Old ties from a charity shop can make nice patterned seating - many have small patterns, and they're cheap too...

I use either felt, or an old pair of shorts that dad acquired from a charity shop. Modellers clay can also look pretty good too, but I've not tried it myself.

Does dad not find that bits of him are now on display that were never meant to be :-)

Luckily no. The shorts were acquired with the intention of using them on carriage seats
