Engine Shed

Post by SpudUk » Tue Mar 25, 2014 5:45 pm

Hello Folks,

I've been looking around for a kit to make my first building but I can't seem to find anything that works for me. I want it to be an engine shed, but all the kits available seem to be these grand slate or stone built buildings, that wouldn't seem right for my railway.

So, I am considering building one myself  Problem is, I don't really know where to start!

I'm thinking that it should probably be of some sorted of corrugated metal construction, this seems to fit my lines remit, but how could I do this in 16mm? Are there any drawings available I could use?

...help

Brandbright do a sheet of plastic corrugated iron which is easy to work: you will need either a wooden frame or a ply inner to attach it to - you could use stripwood from your local diy shed, and/or coffee stirrers. Take a look at: http://www.mdlr.co.uk/ff05.html to see how I did it!
