W&L "Resita", live steam by Ralph Reppingen
W&L "Resita", live steam by Ralph Reppingen
For those who saw the paragraph on Welshpool and Llanfair´s 0-8-0T "Resita" (currently "resting") in SMT which announced Ralph Reppingen´s live steam model of the same, here are a few more details from the website (German only).
Ralph writes that another "Announcement" will be made concerning the loco at the end of March, presumably with some pics and more details of delivery date, which is currently set at 2014. Scale is 1:20, min radius is 50cm, gauge is 45mm, and the price of the kit is ca €2300, available in three phases each priced at a third of the total. It should also be available RTR, but no price is shown.
I know that Ralph always welcomes expressions of interest to help him judge demand.

Yes, that is a good point, since the list of defects is fairly long. But Ralph Reppingen´s website claims that his prototye, also confusingly called "Resita" is working on Austria´s Steyrtal museum railway. Of course the W&L could organise a part exchange of two non-working Resita 0-8-0Ts for one working one ....MDLR:97591 wrote:Let's hope it's more reliable and trouble-free than the prototype!

I saw Ralph at Karlsruhe in January, and, yup, essentially, it´s a relaunch, but as he isn´t really a great fan of mass production, it´ll be serve them as they come.Palmerston:97739 wrote:Ralph produced the Resita already during 2007-2011. During this I did send him a few pics from the W&L loco but he never advertized in the UK. Nobody noticed it then, except me and a few.

To quote an article in Steam in the Garden (Jan/Feb 2011) describing a previous production run of "Resita", "pulling capacity is (between) 60 to 80 axles". This article, written by Bert Horner, also said that she would run for 45min on one gas filling.laalratty:99078 wrote:Can imagine that will be a powerful beast at 4.5Kg and with 8 driving wheels. Just hope it's more reliable then the Welshpool one...
