Hello,
It would be perfectly fine to cut the doors off and modify the existing parts of my kit. The external chassis is part of the body and is at least 5mm think . You could even go the other way and add the full armament.
Rob.

Excellent, thanks Rob - it won't be any time soon, money's committed elsewhere at the mo', but I'll give that some thought...swiftsixteen:97390 wrote:Hello,

Excellent, and slightly off-beat choice of locomotive. And let´s not forget that it was used after WWI too.

I acquired one at Llanfair. I have not built it yet (saving it for the xmas holidays) From what I can see it is like all of Robs kits, a nice straight forwards build.
I have built a few of Robs wagon kits and they just seem to fall together. The instructions are comprehensive and well set out. (you download the instructions from the website).
I would say that it is about as beginner friendly as any well detailed loco kit can be.
Just follow the instructions and use the correct glue and tools and you should be fine.
Help is normally freely given on this forum so most hurdles can be overcome.
Good luck.

If at first you don't succeed, use a bigger hammer!
Soldering is not overly difficult. It is mainly down to having the right equipment and making sure everything is cleaned properly. A bit of practice on a few bits of scrap brass should get you proficient enough.
While a rivet press is a nice thing to have and very, very useful. you can use a center punch. Again practice is your friend here.
I am certain that there are other ways of doing it and a quick google search may throw up few.

Please don't be afraid to have a go at any of Rob's (Swift Sixteen) kits, etc.
I honestly believe that if you were to shake a box of a Swift Sixteen wagon kit hard enough the kit would assemble itself...
They are that easy to build.
I also know that if you fluff something up, a swift (excuse the pun) call to Rob would solve the issue.

Thank you for easing my worries a little.
I am a complete beginner modeller. The only experience I have is with Warhammer but that's just plastic miniatures (which look comparatively simple compared to this!), so I have a lot of angst when it comes to delving into larger more expensive and complex kits. Any tips for a complete beginner like myself?
