I try to build it then shout at it, hit it with a big hammer and if that doesnt work take a look at the instructions

I had a similar problem with my IP cattle wagon; the floor warped with the body already glued to it. The solution was to run the whole wagon under boiling water, use brute force to bend it back into shape, and then sellotape it firmly to a straight plank of wood and leave it for a day or two. It's now pretty much straight!

I had some problem with warping but nothing some water and G Cramps couldnt sort out. Not as bad as the photos suggest though.

Now stuck it together.
yes i know, its wonky, and badly made.
and following the comments on the e group, i feel very inclined to stop useing my 16mm stuff.

Don't worry, a lot of my stuff is wonky and badly made - at least in appearance. My Double Fairlie looks particularly rough at the moment, and I doubt if I will be able to straighten up all the boiler fittings so even when it is finished I am sure there will be people that will look at it and tut tut, even if it is only in their heads - and there will probably be some who will do the same towards the Pullmans when they are done too. Wonkyness is only an issue if you are not happy with it.

The carriage looks fine to me, bear in mind that a lot of rolling stock on the real narrow gauge railways had a lot of heavy use, and carriages often weren't terribly square in real life! I've got some photos of some decidedly work worn coaches!
I must admit I'm a bit let down by the attitude of some of the members on the 16mm association group. There's really no need for rudeness - especially when someone has a genuine concern and is just asking for advice.
I thought 16mm garden railways were supposed to be fun!!

One of the sides on my Obs has a bulge in it, it takes quite someone to produce somthing perfect.

The only way you can really get those IP coaches square is to cut battens and stringers to reinforce the top and bottom edges of the thin plywood. I cut some softwood blocks to square up the carriage ends and dividers between the compartments too - a little piece of bullnose moulding makes a great seat pad too.
I cut a batten with one side angled and glued along the edge of the floor to make more glueing area for the lower edge of the carriage side. Adds extra weight low down too which makes them run nicely.

The Lydd set at Amberley physically squeaks and flexes as it goes round curves
So, if your coaches don't do that then you have done a good job

That looks great Andy, I don't think there's much to be ashamed of. Some of my stuff aint square, but u can't really tell when your stood a few foot from it. Only if you where to get a set square out, you could tell. I wouldn't worry, my IP Lollypop open was perfectly straight when I made it, but after a while, its warped badly... Wood just does it...
Stick with it, otherwise it's your loss... Most of them are really nice guys, I bet a lot you know at GMES would be sad to see you leave...

Mine is much worse than that. Firstly the sides were totally warped the rong way, however according to the instructions I could make this write by following the steps. So i did, fitted the sides and the and then fitted the perspex windows. i then discovered that the middle was severley bowed out of place so made some cross peices for the top to take the bow out. When i did this and glued it up, this caused the perspex to pop out in some places were the glue was not as strong because the perspex sheet was cut too long because of the bow.
Oh by the way this was my first attempt at a carriage, mind you i did make four other MOD stock from IP which turned out rather well. (however they are very easy kits, or so i would say).
So anyway I then realised that the perspex needed coming out and found that i had glued it a little too much and couldnt get it off without wrecking the carriage. So in the end i took a drill to it and am left with one side completley free however the other side still has 1 section of perspex part drilled and completley stuck on.
I told Mr Prior about this at one of the many shows i went to and he said it must have been a bad kit and that if i gave him a call and explained the situation again he would send the parts i needed back to me free of charge in the post. So he was most helpful. However the situation is still not resolved due to me not wanting to touch the damn thing. Althoug this convosation has made me think about converting it from a 4 compartment to a 3 or making the compartment with the left over perspex into a guards compartment.
I think i shall go and have a trip down to the shed and investigate!

2nd coach done.
I may do the lighting diffrent to what i was going to at first.
I might attach the lights and betetry pack to the roof, instead of inside the coach.

Looking perfect mate! As for lighting, Im going to use those T&M models (ebay) lighting sets on my LGB coaches probably, its the battery pack and LEDS all in 1 unit - sticks to the roof...
