Stolen Locos

Post by Aizoon » Thu Oct 30, 2008 10:26 am

Chris Barry of Didcot has just woken up to find his shed broken into and his roundhouse billy stolen and a roundhouse russel.

Both are black the billy has the name DAVID and number 1 on it, the russel does not have any pony trucks as these were in the middle of being repaired so is running as an 0-6-0. if anyone hears or see's anything about engines to this description he would be very grateful if you could contact him at c_barry6106@hotmail.com

Nah, more likley they'll sell them on ebay. Better keep an eye out on second-hand sites.

I read about this on the 16mm group, I must have had dejar voo. I was talking to my dad about whether my stuff is under house insurance because mine have to go in the shed, and I mentioned I never heard of anyone having their locos stolen  :?  :?   . Wierd... Today I took my locos serial numbers and photoed them, I'd recomend that to anyone, so at least you can indentify them if they take a name plate off for example.

That is terrible news, he has my sympathies, I cross my fingers that they will turn up unscathed, and that he will be re-united with them.

Many years ago, my two locos used to be kept in the garage, something I was not too happy about (despite a low theft rate), especially when I was on holiday in the UK. On returning home, the first thing I would do was rush to the garge and check that they were still there, and that was just for 2 humble Mamods.

Today, I keep them hidden away in the house, if space is limited, I'd keep them under the bed !

I'd be worried about keeping any loco's in the shed. It's bad enough keeping tools out there, but atleast the bigger stuff is well bolted down.

Loco's should be in use, and when they are not in use, proudly displayed indoors!

I'll keep a look out on Ebay for any signs of those loco's.

Chris' shed is apparently more of a workshop than a shed.

NOBODY should keep their locos in an outside shed. If the Domestic Authorities demand that they stay out of the house, in return demand that the DA finance replacement of said articles if they are stolen.

I find that this approach works wonders ;)
