this is what i started last week over half term. ran out of nuts a bolts, so brought some more to complete it some time.
the firehole door took 4 hours of looking at a photo and trial and error, and it realy works!!!

A steam propelled life-style.

nah, LIVE STEAM. is about 18" long, so im gonna put in a mamod boiler in the firebox, so i can put the fuel tray through the firehole door, then i have a jensen 75 cylinder assembly which ill make a meccano crank for, so it will run on steam. i have made a 7ft long piece of 5" gauge meccano track, can just be seen here at the bottom:

That looks fantastic, i've dabbled with making a 3 1/2 inch gauge engine from mecano but I could find any railway wheels or axels long enough for 5 inch gauge
"What the hell is that?"
"It's a model icebreaker sir."
"It's a bit big isn't it?"
"It's a full scale model sir....."
