i supose it could be, just replace the meths burner with a gas one.
the meths burner and tank jsut drop out when you remove a couple of fixings.
Someone on the G scale forum has done so (well, to an Old Colonial) and has arranged it so the only permanent modification to the loco s two small holes.
He was going to do a write- up for us, I'll post the link on here if he does.

i am having a few problems
One being the chimney has come off, and i dont know how to re attach it.
and the main problem is that it wont go, you can turn the reg up full, and it will move a quarter, stick, suddenly move another quarter or so, and so on.
any idea hwo to stop this?

The chimney you could probably epoxy back on (provided you thoughly degrease all parts first). As for the valve timing I think it may be one of two things. When you open the regulator fully it may catch water and draw it into the staem line causing it to lock. That or you valve timings screwed up. It could be something else but i dont know as im not an expert in these things.
