As is tradition, the second Saturday in June saw the first steamup of the year on the Forest Fields Railway in the Southern Lake District. Mike had added to the spiral section yet again to a new upper terminus handily located beside where the food is kept at their steamups. This I believe finally takes the FFR to its highest planned point, I'd say getting on for a metre above the lowest point of the main circuit. Here are the pics

My day started with picking James up at Lancaster Station, once we arrived he soon had Britomart in steam. It is seen here pulling away from Bouth Station on the main circuit.

Urien runs into the new terminus at Hawkshed. Running round did involve an amount of hand shunting with my 6 carriage train

Have to say it was an excellent day! Unfortunately I didn't get any phots, but needless to say Brit and Snowdon had the cobwebs blown off them with a few runs up the spiral!

Hand-shunting at the terminus reminds me of my volunteering days on the Talyllyn, putting together the General Appendix, and in particular the day two of us spent measuring rolling stock for the reference sections. The GA lists loco, carriage and wagon lengths in feet and inches...
