I've recently painted an L and B carriage in the same colour as the current 'new build' and found from the L and B website that the brown is:- Deep Indian Red, I had this mixed as a Dulux oil based paint, takes a lot of drying but at least I know its the right colour!

Also as a teenager I worked on the Sittingbourne and Kemsley and painted 'Superb' the green standardly used is :- Buckingham Green,
if you mix Humbrol Emerald Green and Brunswick 50/50 its spot on but obviously no good for a hot loco but at least its a good colour reference.
Just noticed in B&Q Hammerite do a smooth 'garage door' paint in Buckingham Green! and I'm sure that paint is heat proof as well.

Humbrol still comes in enamel finish so would be fine I think.
I did a search for Buckingham green and Rustins make an oil based paint in a handy 250ml size
http://www.rustins.eu/Details.asp?ProductID=277

Would that be ok as I fancy painting Superior one day in the Bowaters scheme.
