Unbend a paper clip and push one end into a cork

Sorry Dan but I don't understand. How does that work? I was thinking of a tool that would lift both chopper arms at the same time so the wagons could be disconnected.

you bend the paper clip in such a way that you can push a bit through in between the chopper faces and then lift up, in doing so both the hooks are lifted up simultaneously. The cork is just to help hold it and make it look less like a bent paper clip and more like a proper tool.

I use a blunt craft knife but any thin blade will do. Place the blade between the faces of the chopper under the hooks. Push the stock together to close up the coupling then lift up the blade together with the hooks pulling the blade away as the stock is separated.

I did have a more sophisticated version but I think it went missing on an open day I visited.

You can easily make your own tool.

I use a small dowel rod with a thin piece of brass pushed into it. The brass is bent into a hook shape for uncoupling choppers.

Theres a chappy on ebay who sells replacement hooks for the choppers, which are made of steel so you can use a magnet to uncouple.
