Some terrifying 00 gauge!

Post by laalratty » Mon Jan 28, 2013 8:53 pm

I went on the internet and I found this.....!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJ8fU6IZ ... youtu.be&a

00 guage trains on a loft going at rather alarming speeds at times. Saying that I'm not sure quite what a scale 125mph looks like but around some of the curves on the layout I kept half expecting one heck of an accident!
"What the hell is that?"
"It's a model icebreaker sir."
"It's a bit big isn't it?"
"It's a full scale model sir....."

Mr Bond, I did warn you and you clicked on the link, you only have yourself to blame  You know full well that trains going faster then walking pace make you feel funny!

It's interesting that it seems to have "normal" controllers - no signs of DCC!

To a Mamod owner it all looks a bit slow and sedate!

Mmmm.... Hammond & Morgan "Duette". I still have one here for those rare occasions when a bit of 12vDC is required.

How Retro.

At first I thought all was well because it was all high speed pax trains, so maybe an OK operation.

....but then about a minute or so in I spotted what looked like (as a blur) a small tank loco on a goods train.

I use one as my main controller for my O9 layout - going to its first show at the weekend. Even with the half wave on I rarely get the speed over #2. But with my Kato chassis and keeping the track nice and clean and graphited it does run at reasonably slow speed.

Looks like a day at work (minus the steam stuff).
Tommy Dodd may have an ARS key but I have a TASS button & a Rope Ladder, just like pirates, except the TASS button bit.
