First Steam on the R.V.L.R.!

Post by SapperAnt » Thu Jan 24, 2013 12:09 am

Well it was only a Light Engine move, but still a momentous occasion.

Having finally measured up the garden, I am going to have a half-way between ground level and "shelf" by elevating the track on posts due to the gradient down the garden (ie away from the house; toward the railway cutting). It drops around 30cm in total. I need to work out the total gradiant slope but as Ive manual locomotives Id rather have it a lot flatter. Anyone for a viaduct?

Most of the mature planting in the beds has gone very leggy and woody so I think can go, or at least be severely pruned back - and kept as such.

Last I heard, your unreasonable harridan of a land-lady wasn't having any railways in her garden. Did you win that battle, or did you manage to get your own place?

In any case, congratulations on the steam. It's really the only reasonable way to propel a garden train.
